Zondo recommendation: Probe Molefe, Gama and Singh for Gupta-linked corruption | Citypress

The second report lays bare astounding revelations of corruption and dereliction of duty by senior executives at the state-owned enterprises , Transnet and Denel.

The strategy was at the centre of bypassing the procurement processes to favour Gupta-linked companies. This was done through using confinements when contracts were awarded, as opposed to the company framework, which dictated that contracts and services providers should be obtained through open tender bid processes.

According to the report, this process was also abused. The report noted that normally such contracts would be reviewed by the CEO and the chief procurement officer but this was not the case during Molefe’s tenure. It also noted that state capture at Transnet began in 2009, after Maria Ramos resigned as the group CEO and coincided with the election of Jacob Zuma as president of the country.

Zuma’s alleged interference was punctuated by his insistence of appointing Siyabonga Gama as group CEO of Transnet over Simphiwe Maseko, who was the board’s preferred candidate.

Probe means they don't have evidence to charge anyone even after millions of taxpayer money was captured by the Zondo Commission.
