Twitterati didn’t hold back in universal condemnation of the planned move, calling it the work of a ‘despot’ and an ’emperor of dust’. Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa has announced a decision to rename eight roads in eight towns after himself, and his countrymen are furious. This comes on the back of a cabinet decision to rename a number of streets in the country after liberation heroes, most of who have passed on, TimesLIVE reports.

Twitter erupted in condemnation of the president’s decision, with some commentators saying he is worse than former president Robert Mugabe was – who he deposed – and that he should rather focus on reviving the economy and improving the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.

Why Zimbabweans keep on voting to power these corrupt ppl..sorry I should first ask that question here in SA..

Some chiefs will do the same here... Juliat Street. Florence Street. Nobody Street.

Ja neh. I thought this man was going to change things in Zim and engrave his name in the history books. What a missed opportunity! What a disappointment!

This man must go!!

edmnangagwa Your Nation hopes is vanishing you are becoming a Despot stop regarding yourself as the most important, your Nation is the most important they have suffered enough under the Despot Mugabe please reach out to your Nation on the same level as you expect! God bless 🙏🙏

Weren't Zimbabweans happy when Mugabe was overthrown & MD took over? MD is just following Mugabe's steps. Rename EVERYTHING after yourself when the country is starving. This is a clear example of how Brazen African Dictators are.

How sick is he?
