Zahara – real name Bulelwa Mkutukana – passed away at a Johannesburg hospital on 11 December 2023 after spending almost three weeks in the intensive care unit . She was laid to rest on 23 December in East London.

These reports came after the two sisters were also accused of using her credit cards to go on a shopping spree while she was hospitalised last year., items such as Zahara’s bedroom suite, lounge suite, kitchen supplies, flat-screen TV, her double-door fridge and awards have all gone up for sale.
