GENEVA - The World Trade Organization concluded hard-won deals Friday on fishing subsidies, food insecurity and Covid-19 vaccines in a landmark bundle of agreements secured through hectic round-the-clock talks.
But instead the WTO's 164 members went straight through on into Friday, finally concluding at around 5:00 am . "The package of agreements you have reached will make a difference to the lives of people around the world. The outcomes demonstrate that the WTO is in fact capable of responding to the emergencies of our time."
Okonjo-Iweala, who took over in March 2021, hinged her leadership on breathing new life into the sclerotic organisation. The new WTO chief wanted to prove that the organisation could still make itself relevant in tackling the big global challenges.
What the hell is a Covid deal? There can be no deliverable except virtually useless ampoules & masks. Even the High Priest of Lockdown, masking, vaccination & lying has now contracted Covid despite double Vax + 2 boosters. The whole thing is now over & Vax is pointless.
