Cape Town - Canadian rapper, Drake and the Madison Square Garden are being sued by a woman who says she sustained severe head injuries at his concert in 2016, resulting in her having seizures., 24-year-old Amanda Giovacco says a food vendor and Drake were negligent in allowing a crowd to get raucous enough that someone would chuck a glass bottle at her head.

“Amanda Giovacco, was violently struck by a beer bottle that was thrown while attending the Drake concert, was maliciously and without just cause provocation, subjected to a battery,” the court papersIn her lawsuit against the duo, Amanda claims the concert didn’t have a tight enough security system, and safety precautions weren’t prioritised.

“They negligently served “excessive amounts of alcohol” to the concert-goers at the overcrowded venue and improperly provided beer in glass bottles rather than plastic cups,” she claims in the documents. “They failed to control the “rowdy” crowd while “they knew Drake has a history of violence at his concerts,” the court papers continued.

According to Amanda’s lawyer, Joseph Napoli, “Madison Square Garden, the promoter and Drake should have prevented bottles from coming in or circulating within the building and being thrown at a concert. Amanda sustained a traumatic brain injury and seizures, both of which are preventing her from attending medical school. Her future is now precarious.”

This is not the first time this year, that the rapper has faced a lawsuit; in January, Drake, Younes Bendjima and Odell Beckham Jr were caught in a lawsuit by a man who alleges theyEven though Drake and his team have not released a statement on Amanda Giovacco’s lawsuit against him, a representative from the Madison Square Garden said, “The lawsuit was filed this morning and we are looking into the matter. The safety and security of our guests is our highest priority.
