Launching funding in support of young people’s mental health, the royals , stepped out in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, where they were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd. They stopped by The Street, a community hub that develops local services, where they met young people to discuss how the funding would make a difference in the the resort town.
The royals also met with local organisations that are set to benefit from £345,000 worth of funding, created from a collaboration between The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.“We heard a lot about mental health priorities, safe spaces, places to go for young people after schools and food,” Prince William said in a speech to the crowd. “These are particularly keen issues that seem to be resonating through the community today.
“I think, particularly on the mental health side of things, tackling that stigma, talking about mental health and providing services throughout the community are crucial to how we go forwards and deal with mental health issues that many, many people face,” he continued.
