A COMRADES Marathon runner's weight-loss journey led to him completing three Comrades Marathon races. Preparing for his fourth this year, Njabulo Khuzwayo is happy to have come this far in his running.
'When I started running, the aim was to lose weight and be fit. I would run short distances a few hours before work and long distances when I was off. My colleagues here suggested that I join a running club – that's where I was inspired to do more races and one being the Comrades Marathon,' he said.Khuzwayo said running has yielded positive results for him apart from the weight loss. 'Running has been good for my mental health; it has also shifted my perspective.
For this year's Comrades Marathon, Khuzwayo said he is aiming to beat his last finishing time of 10 hours and 11 minutes.
