FootballFever | ‘We don’t have team spirit’ Days before Mamelodi Sundowns go to battle against Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup semifinal, coach Pitso Mosimane admits that his squad lacks “team spirit” because of strict Covid-19 regulations

The Brazilians been at a training camp in Rustenburg,in the North West, for the past few weeks. The camp has been a different, though, under the strict Covid-19 coronavirus regulations with team-mates expected to observe social distancing. This has undoubtedly affected training sessions.

“We are training in small groups. It’s strange, I mean one group sitting there and another group there,” Mosimane said in a virtual press conference on Wednesday. “We have done only one video analysis and we must also observe social distancing. Remember we can’t be in a closed room, so we do it outside.“And then due to the sun’s reflection, you can’t see the visuals properly. So we had to do this between 5pm and 6pm but that time it’s cold so we had to stop it because the doctor warned us that we might get flu.

“That’s football under Covid-19. We don’t have team spirit. We eat within two hours [of each small group]. Everyone pops in and out. Sometimes you’re alone in the dining hall.”PSL games resume this Saturday with the Nedbank Cup. The Absa Premiership and the NFD GladAfrica Championship also start a few days later.Teams have been allocated new home grounds where games will be played in empty stadiums.
