To make matters worse, Ekurhuleni mayor Tania Campbell has failed to meet the community to provide answers on the matter and electricity issues that led to violent protests in the township on Monday and left people dead.

Valencia Mdali, 71, who spoke to Sowetan on the sidelines of a visit by co-operative governance and traditional affairs MEC Lebogang Maile to the area, said poor residents were at a disadvantage and no clear explanation for why they were removed was provided.

"I went to enquire at our local municipal offices in April and the officials there couldn't explain why." "I still have to buy electricity, which sometimes costs over R500. How much am I left with to survive?" Mokoena said when his application expired in April, he reapplied to be placed back on the programme but received no response.

And they are helping themselves to drown deeper.... Do they even think how much it will cost the municipality to fix the damage they cost...? With which money?

🤭🤭

I wouldn’t meet with them either. No negotiations with terrorists.

‘No perfect government and political party’ - Maile tells Tembisa residents | CitypressGauteng MEC for Human Settlements and Cooperative Governance Lebogang Maile says service delivery matters are complex, huge and a moving target. But they must not play hide and seek, they must face the community and tell the truth. ...but the is and could be better government other than what we have now! The current leadership is clueless and absent from everyday realities of the masses they so called 'lead'! Why can't they ask Gayton Mckenzie how he did it. I know comparing Tembisa to Beaufort West is not fair, people wants to see minimal basic developments within their communities. Not meetings after meetings but politicians getting richer.
