Johannesburg – SA's top comedians put their best foot forward on the yellow carpet at this year's Savanna Comics' Choice Awards on Saturday.
Gold Reef City was buzzing ahead of the show, with the likes of Chris Forrest, Tsitsi Chiumya, and Nina Hastie dressed to the nines as they posed for the camera with dozens of fans watching from the sidelines. about the importance of the awards for the comedy industry in South Africa, Nina Hastie admits that as much as the awards are about having fun, it's also about having a platform that recognises the great comedic talent in the country.
"Without solidarity, there cannot be growth or any kind of movement, so it's important for us all to be on one stage together appreciating each other, seeing what else is out there. It's the ninth year of Comic Choice, and I've been there since day one. It's just so nice for us all to sort of get up, get together, get dressed up, take photos, watch the show – the production quality is always excellent.
