WATCH | Gas tanker clipped street light then all hell broke loose, says Worcester blast witness

series of large explosionsEyewitness Wimpie Majolla said he was waiting for colleagues when he saw the tanker trying to make a turn. Its trailer made contact with a street light, rupturing the gas tank.

Then he saw a blue flame racing towards the tanker and the gas burst into flames. A nearby bakkie also caught fire, with the driver still inside.An electrical shop, ACDC Express, was one of the businesses badly damaged in the blast.Majolla said there was a small explosion, followed by a massive blast, which sent large chunks of the truck flying and set several buildings on fire.

The force of the explosion propelled the tank about 50m and a few scattered chunks of twisted metal were all that remained of the truck.
