Zimbabweans went to the polls on Wednesday August 23, 2023 for general elections. Incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (Zanu-PF) is facing off against 11 other candidates. Deutsche Welle reports that voting stations were supposed to open at 7am local time and close at 7pm, However, reports of delays of up to eight hours at some polling stations have triggered accusations of manipulation. We want the ballot paper for the president and the MPs to be given to us as samples, so that we validate them," Chamisa said.
