Volkswagen is drawing up plans to carve out Lamborghini and has sounded outbankers and potential investors about listing the Italian sportscar maker on the stock market, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

WOLFSBURG -

The source said there was no formal decision to divest Lamborghini and the timetable of any deal remained unclear. The value of Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari has more than trebled since Fiat Chrysler listed it in 2016 though shares in rival Aston Martin have slumped since its IPO in 2018. Lamborghini's Chief Executive Stefano Domenicali announced this week his departure from the sports car maker to take on anew job as president of Formula One.Volkswagen Group's Chief Executive Herbert Diess said on Wednesday that the carmaker would announce"important steps" about the company's future before the end of the year.

Piech, who hired Diess in 2015, turned Volkswagen around by betting on modular construction techniques which allowed Audi, Seat, Skoda and VW to use common parts for up to 65% of their construction.

PETER BRUCE: Get set to steel ourselves for more painSA’s economic recovery plan proposes a dramatic shift to localisation of manufacturing Under apartheid, industrializatiom was driven through beneficiation of raw materials i.e Iron ore & Coking Coal converted to Steel and final products. It is time to enforce industrializatiom , especially through import protection mechanisms Even Peter Bruce is starting to see the light, now if only someone would shake Max du Preez out of his slumber that would be nice. Would hate for him to miss the end of either the ANC or the country!
