A model walks the runway wearing Junkai Huang during the Fashion Institute Of Technology's Fine Art Of Fashion And Technology Show at Pier 59 Studios on February 07, 2020 in New York, New York.NEW YORK - A prestigious New York fashion college apologized on Wednesday after a catwalk featuring models wearing large prosthetic red lips, ears and bushy eyebrows was branded racist.
Joyce Brown said it had not been the creator's intent to make a statement about race but"it is now glaringly obvious that has been the outcome. The show made headlines after African-American model Amy Lefevre, 25, told the New York Post tabloid that she had refused to wear the props because they were"clearly racist."
The controversy comes after Italian fashion house Prada said earlier this month it would take steps to fight racism and promote diversity following uproar over its sale of monkey-like key chain figurines.
Big ears, lol, they not talking about us
Batho ba tella
😂😂Some people will cry racism when their toast is too light.
Nah make them pay
I mean....
For those that don't understand how Africans were depicted in cartoons in the 1930's
they shouldn't apologize ...its a reflection of who they are ....pity.
Racism is far embedded in them that someone has to call them out them to actually see their labeling behaviour and then the fake apology..... so exhausting! How many times are we going to go through this!!
Fancy bumping into this person in a dark ally 🙄
Apparently big ears and eyebrows are also offensive now? Well I'm also offended, offended by this garbage!
who in their right fucking mind comes up with this shit
Clearly this was racist towards the Potatohead people.
Sorry but I don't see how that crap imitates any race.
