Two major retirement reform proposals for 2022

The government has been progressively reforming and restructuring the savings and retirement legislative framework since the publication of a set of discussion papers following the announcement made as far back as in the 2012 budget.These two problems appear to be in opposition to one another.

One of the options currently proposed is called a “two-pot” system, which will enable the restructuring of retirement contributions into two-pots. Your contributions to your pension savings will be divided into two pots. Comments on the proposals can be sent to National Treasury by January 31 2022 via email: retirement.reform@treasury.gov.za.
