Transfer Update: Cristiano Ronaldo

journalist David Ornstein at the weekend, super-agent Jorge Mendes recently met with Chelsea to discuss a variety of issues, including his most high-profile client.

During those discussions, Blues owner Todd Boehly and Mendes were believed to touch on a potential move to Stamford Bridge for the former Real Madrid talisman, who scored 24 goals last season for the Red Devils. And according to the, Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham also explored the idea of luring the Portugal captain to the MLS, but Ronaldo rejected the ex-England captain's offer.

Clubs such as Roma and Juventus have been linked with the No. 7, too, in recent weeks following United's failure to secure UEFA Champions League football for the 2022/23 campaign. Amid these rumours, some believe Ronaldo and his agent are aiming to apply pressure on the Premier League club, who have not yet made any new signings ahead of the coming season.

The 37-year-old has reportedly perceived this as a lack of ambition as United appear to be struggling to get deals over the line for new head coach Erik ten Hag. Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong and Ajax Amsterdam's Antony have been identified as key targets for the Dutchman, but it seems the club are no closer to bolstering their first-team squad despite pre-season commencing on Monday.

United, though, will reportedly not entertain any offers for Ronaldo as they have decided he is not for sale, as per several publications across Europe and England. With Ronaldo having another year on his deal, the club envisions an important role for the forward under Ten Hag.
