Top SAPS officials have raised concerns about the suspension of more than 10 senior officers, saying the move was unprecedented and has weakened the police.

Johannesburg -

The sources say it for the first time in the history of the country where so many members are either suspended, under investigation or being dismissed. The sources this week told the Sunday Independent that some of the officers being investigated are allegedly part of a ploy to purge and free up key positions to allow the looting of resources."One of the key positions that have been targeted has been the supply chain department which is responsible for a large budget," said the source.

The SAPS purge has set Sitole and Police Minister Bheki Cele on a collision course with the minister having written to the commissioner on two occasions, calling for the reinstatement of some of the suspended officers. Sitole has however defied Cele on both occasions.

Hebanna !! How does the suspension of people suspected of doing crime weaken the structural integrity of the overall unit which is supposedly abiding by the law🤷🏽‍♂️😂😂. Unless none of them are 🤣🤣

The rule of law should be applied without fear and favour.. Top saps officials what is it that they are not saying criminality should be nipped in the bud.don't be cry babies when you get arrested..rule of law should be respected by all period....

Could it be because Mdluli and Phahllne are not in SAPS that this unprecedented move is taking place.

Those sources must tell us who should be suspended instead.

The issue should be why they are suspended not the number that has been suspended.

Sithole must not be threatened by anyone, be it member or politicians. He must clean the SAPS. If members are corrupt, they must be sacked. We can't even negotiate that. Where there's a vacancy owing to the dismissal of a corrupt member, such a vacancy will accordingly be filled.
