The 2022 edition of the event is expecting approximately 18 000 runners from Cape Town, the rest of the country, and the globe.
This year will see the start of a three-year evaluation process as the city aims to join Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York as host of one of the Abbot World Marathon Majors in 2025 However, in order to remain in contention to join this prestigious group of events, organizers were required to alter the traditional route which will result in the temporary closure of several major roads.
