The Alexandra leg of the Jozi Walks walkabouts includes the creative district and the Alex heritage precinct and is happening this weekend, as is the Tshwane Book Picnic. More from the weekend guide:

This guided city walk, initiated and sponsored by the Johannesburg Development Agency, takes places annually. Led by Harry Nakeng, the Alexandra leg of the walkabout includes the creative district and the Alex heritage precinct.The walkabout is on May 18 and 19, starting at 9am from the Alex Shopping Centre at The Establishment, London Road, Far East Bank, Sandton.

Details: The exhibition opens on May 18 at Stevenson, Parktown North, Johannesburg. For more information visit their The City of Tshwane has arranged a day of African literature, music and poetry under the theme The Year of Indigenous Languages.The picnic will take place on May 19 at SixViews Mountain Activities, 6797 Setiloane Street, Ga-Rankuwa Unit 6, Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria.
