The story of Charles Tsotetsi: SA prodigy who faded after training with Barcelona and Man United

Charles Tsotetsi had the world at his feet after he was spotted via the Nike the Chance programme in 2012Onetime South African football wonder kid Charlie Tsotetsi famously trained with top European clubs such as FC Barcelona and Manchester United, as part of the “Nike the Chance” world talent search over 10 years ago.

In an interview with online sports publication SportsBoom, Tsotetsi shared his story of how he went from training with the world’s best in Europe to now having retired after his career was cut short due to injuries.Tsotetsi’s rise to fame came when he was selected through a unique soccer talent search, “Nike the Chance”, in 2012.

He was among 100 players from different countries who went to Spain to spend some time with the FC Barcelona academy.After joining “Nike the Chance” at age 18, it was a joyful moment and seemed like a dream come true for Tsotetsi.
