'After years of fighting, my fighter cells are disarmed.”

After 22 years of living healthily with HIV, radio personality Criselda Kananda has started a course of antiretroviral medication .

She revealed she had tested negative for Covid-19, but said the HIV in her body was “having a live concert”. "I am HIV-positive and in all the years I have known my status I have never taken ARVs. Those come into play when your CD4 count is lower than 250. In this country, that is the standard that is set."

...this was my initial fear until a doctor explained that the soldiers will always have memory of how they fought certain bugs & viruses in the past & therefore will not become compromised or forgetful despite constant sanitizing & distancing. This isolating will be the end of us

Current guidelines is to test and treat if Hiv+ irrespective of the CD4 count

You are very strong 💪... Wishing you a speedy recovery 😘😘😘

This part worries me. Disinfecting and wearing of the mask weakens the immune system?

ARVs save lives.

Plants are the way to go, we were not designed to eat meat.

Was she really HIV positive to start with.

Not yet sisi😯😐

While ur it pls wash ur hands, use mask & sanitize......dnt blame The President

Wish you fast recovery SES☹️

one lady who became so clear about her status publicly. There are people who hide their status .Some will go to an extend of not using condoms. Some times we date people who do not want to test HIV. Than to her for playing such exemplary role in a indemi within a pandemic

Only one word. IDIOT

Wish you strength to continue fighting.

How many people did she infect because of her 'strong immune system'? Her CD4 count might've been okay according to her but the viral load would've been higher without ARVs, hence transmission. This is reckless, if it was possible prosecutable.

This one irresponsible and loves limelight

Some who took ARVs didn't get to live for 22 years. Wow! I'm shocked.

All the best

Ay this one

Well... My late uncle succumbed to this virus back in 2010 after 5yrs of not taking any ARV's i guess our bodies responds differently to this virus and what worked for Chriselda for the past 22 yrs cannot work for everyone.

Get well soon cc

Be well queen! Take ARv’s, keep exercising and eat healthy... keep a healthy mind, you’re an inspiration.

Get well, sister.Your have helped and given hope to millions of our people.

Mbeki and Manto were correct after all. One can live without ARVs as long as they eat healthy foods but idiots ridiculed them with beetroot

I don't what this article is intended for. People are advised to take ARVs as soon as they know their status in this country. The department of health spends millions communicating the importance of taking ARVs, then you&your celebrity friends write this up. Wow! Just wow!

Never give up I admire you.

Glad that you will not be taking the Madagascar herbal medication to live longer.

May you get well Sisters.

Doctors told us about this when lockdown started 😥

Stay strong 💪

Strength to you sistas ❤

Get well soon 🙏

Get well sisi.

Speedy recovery queen ✊

Wow.... & I thought Sis' Criselda was on ARV's all these years. Healthy Living? Learning.... Mmmmh....

U will overcome my qhawekazi.

Beetroot and garlic for 22 yrs😧

We lost a popular Isidingo actress who refused to take the medication yrs ago

So she did it the Thabo Mbeki route

Much strength to you Criselda 🙏🏾

Ah but she don't drink

Prof Glenda Gray's 'voice should not be silenced': Wits perinatal HIV research unitWits university's perinatal HIV research unit (PHRU) on Sunday said calls for Prof Glenda Gray to be investigated for speaking about the lockdown were an insult to academic freedom and a violation of her right to freedom of expression. She must be held accountable for her fake news on Covid-19! She blatantly and maliciously lied, seemingly with the promise that she will be defended and protected.

Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng encourages people to legally challenge lockdown lawsHe says he is deeply worried about the impact of Covid-19 on South Africa. Easier said then done you need money for that and a R350 that people should be getting won’t cover any legal costs. So just keep you option to yourself you flea Ja that is our constitutional rights , but not to go around grandstanding Mogoeng Mogoeng warming up his hand for when CRZ, NDZ and Cele end up in the Con Court... I dig this guy.
