The first in a series of exposés by News24 that shows how the ANC benefitted from enormous R38 billion tenders awarded by Eskom to Hitachi Power Africa for the construction of boilers at Medupi and Kusile power stations. | CowansView

A coal mill at Kusile Power Station's Unit 2 that was supplied by Hitachi as part of a R38 billion deal for boilers at Kusile and Medupi.During a mysterious meeting at OR Tambo Airport in September 2007 an executive of global engineering firm Hitachi urged the chairperson of the ANC’s investment firm Chancellor House to help sway Eskom away from its plans to award two major contracts to its rival bidder, French company Alstom.

The discussion between Chancellor House chairman Professor Taole Mokoena and Klaus-Dieter Rennert, then a senior executive at Hitachi Power Europe, was brief, according to internal Hitachi emails obtained by News24. Rennert made it clear that Hitachi wanted the contract. Rennert asked Mokoena to speak with his"connections" at Eskom and in politics to warn them of the risk of appointing a single supplier to construct both the boilers and turbines at Medupi Power Station. CowansView It seems a BEE employee who had no idea what he/she was doing erroneously paid a supplier R5 billion, that is in financial problems and the money is unlikely to be recovered. Another example of the very poor standard of BEE employees at Eskom which is costing a fortune

LETTER: Does the ANC care how Eskom’s troubles hurt the poor?Does the ANC care how Eskom’s troubles hurt the poor? I doubt it very much. But what they do care about is having generators at all their residences at taxpayers expense, because they are on duty to serve the people 24/7. The people must be grateful for that. Escalated food prices makes the grant's that they give to the people worthless. In the end they can completely remove them as this is what they want to do. No, because it does not affect the bigwigs in the least, with their taxpayer sponsored generators, and blue light brigade who don't get stuck in traffic when the lights don't work.... And it affects everyone badly.....

THE ESKOM FILES | Political sway in ANC's Chancellor House R38bn boiler deal with Hitachi, Eskom | News24ANC investment firm Chancellor House used its political connections and friends inside Eskom at the urging of Hitachi executives to influence the outcome of a R38 billion boiler tender for Medupi and Kusile power stations, according to never-before-seen documents. Ask yourself why are chancellor house corrupt activities not in the zondo report. Fraud, theft and dishonesty. The ANC has no shame in doing this. What an embarrassment to the country. ANC corruption results in South Africa suffering. Yet the ANC is not held accountable or charged for treason

POWER CRISIS: Why an Eastern Cape municipality that owes Eskom R890m cannot foot its electricity billEnoch Mgijima municipality is just one of many municipalities in South Africa that does not pay its electricity bill. Municipalities across the country owe Eskom about R50-billion. And why don’t municipality’s pay their Eskom_SA accounts? Because MYANC cadres steal the money. It’s that simple. Start by firing the municipal managers, mayors and CFOs. Municipal arrear debt (excluding Soweto) is R57-billion at present, and rising at about R1-billion a month.
