A teacher who allegedly assaulted another has had his more than year-long suspension, on ‘full pay’, lifted

A teacher who allegedly threw a cup of hot coffee into a colleague’s face and assaulted him at school last year returned to class last Tuesday without facing the music.

In a letter dated August 17, the Eastern Cape education department’s superintendent-general, Themba Kojana, informed Fuzile Johnson, head of department for science at Inyibiba High School in Fort Beaufort, that his precautionary suspension had been lifted. Johnson was allegedly involved in an altercation with Zamikhaya Bonya, also a head of department, in his office on January 22 2019...A subscription gives you full digital access to all Times Select content.
