A total of 184 South Africans living in Wuhan asked the SA government to evacuate them as a precaution amid the outbreak there. Why does it cost so much ? Please can we be provided with a breakdown of these costs

So🤷🏼‍♂️ should it be free? There's nothing wrong with that. We understand that you're the foreign media and we don't expect patriotism or anything positive from you...

Yeah good job bring the virus here, its welcomed. Let's not close borders as well, we managing the virus pretty well. The recent travelers coming back from Italy was just smallanyana issue i mean its not really spreading. I mean R1200 for testing is not much, its all good Mmkay!!

That's a lot. No wonder it took long, ppl were negotiating monies for themselves. Fuck

As a taxpayer I’m happy to pay. If I were stranded in another country, I’d like to think that my country would save me. Well done.

A full A380 airbus to China and back will not even cost a fraction of that amount. The thieves are having their greedy paws into the cookie jar again. 25 million rand to bring 184 people back to South Africa? Each person is costing the tax payers R135 869. 57.

Are those guys contributing or being taxed here...It would be unfair if they are not but they are our people and they should come home.

Did I authorise that to be taxed for ! No I didn't, the government should pay for that ...the government should pay to to bring them home ! It's their duty to do so

How did they go there? Is just like the foreigners in Cape Town ——

It looks like kids of most Big Shots are involved here! Firstly its them who çan be afforded the chance of studying there! Thats why see the panic

May the next generation vote out ANC🙏🙏🙏🙏

Can u break the 25m up to the last cent pls.

This decision is putting us at risk now 🤦🏾. I don’t understand this plan. Those people are exposed to the virus surely they have it now😞. We are not safe

Please bring em home, life is too precious just to throwin away

Paying for our death😭😭😭😭 what did we do wrong...

Our government is trying so hard to bring Corona virus in South Africa

Question, how many are there and what are these ticket prices? R15060 is average ticket price wuhan to SA. So are they flying back 1660 people? Are all of these people definitely negative...

Please let them stay there

A reliable source told me that the government will get $18mil to fight the virus.... no wonder there's a new case reported everyday

China is buzy taking over the world they already own SA

I don't have that kind of money

I'd love to see this calculation!

Knowing the government tendencies, this will be 240mil 12 months later and a new cost to set up an inquiry plus a commission 🤐 anyway, they knew all the risk of going overseas, they must just wait ,

Legit reason to spend that money. The taxpayer has spent way more on corrupt govt practices. And this is not self inflicted.

Is government gonna fund citizens’ voluntary tests?

Yoo

So what...that's what the ANC spends on one stupid function. These are our people, they wouldn't have been there if they could get jobs here...

Leave them there

Our government got monies for everything except improving the livelihood of citizens locally

Chinese folks and their tendencies of messing with animals meat they was not suppose to mess with now we here whole world dealing with their mess. Why can't they fly down by themselves as they did or was it the tax payers money that flewed them ko China?

Our government is trying so hrt to make sure that we get sick

25mil for what vele coz they just need a sick Dr n unhealthy pilot just to bring them here if they die they die

We pay millions every year for our governments miscellaneous spending so 25mil is noting when its savings innocent lives... they just have to make sure they screen then properly

Who send them there vele?

How Kapa Maths ya ntabola?

Who said they must go there ? Ne ba ja monate akere so how is it our problem. South Africa is useless struu

Please leave them there for another month... just to be sure! Don't trust Chinese when they say they tested them! GovernmentZA

It's 25mil Much less than what officials loot Go get our ppl and quarantine them properly

How many of them ?

Why can't they just stay there in Wuhan? 😒

How does it cost that much somebody is fleecing us again? Leave them there till they recover and they can pay their own way back.

Waste of tax payers money they can pay their own. Buy a plane ticket and get on a plane why the he'll should the tax payers pay? Stop paying tax if they throw it away

How many are we talking

Not to sound mean mara those people went there out of choice

South Africans persist in being foreigners in their continent‘Oh cool, you’re from South Africa? Which country?” I can’t stop my eyes widening at this bizarre response — a new variation on the stereotype of the geographically challenged foreigner who thinks “Africa” is a country. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about travelling as an African, it’s that we assume the responsibility of correcting all manner of odd responses and shades of ignorance.
