As was the case with Kaizer Chiefs who had 32 positive cases which saw them close down the club’s village in Naturena, SuperSport experienced a setback of their own after the club experienced a number of COVID-19 infections to players and staff, including head coach Kaitano Tembo.
The club captain Williams has heaped praise on those who managed to fill the gaps in the absence of the club’s regular starters while sharing his delight at having an almost full-strength side available for the Citizens’ visit. “We still have a few players recovering, and some players doing their rehabilitation, it’s been a tough few weeks but we will soldier on. Obviously, it wasn’t easy without prominent players in the last few matches but we believe in all our players and I feel the players who came in have done very well,” he told the club’s website.
“The DStv Diski Challenge graduates have been training with us for a long time now so they are not new to the team, at SuperSport we are not afraid to throw in youngsters, the club’s future is definitely bright. I’m so proud of our goalkeeper Boalefa Pule, he is such a positive person, never sulks always gives his all at training and I’m glad he kept a clean-sheet in our previous match.
“It’s going to be tough against Cape Town City, they are such a good side who play attacking football, but we are at home, and we need to finish the year on a positive note and climb up the table,” he added.
