Ahead of the MTN8 final, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has swiftly hit back and responded to Orlando Pirates mentor, Jose Riveiro for his remarks regarding the fans. The two South African giants, Sundowns and Pirates will battle it out for the MTN8 trophy at a sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium.Mokwena said he is unfazed by Riveiro’s comments as he said they usually do well at Orlando Stadium against the likes of Al Ahly.
“There’s two ways for this situation, it’s good for Pirates. I honestly hope that 80% maybe even 90% are Pirates supporters because I know what happens. I’ve been at Pirates. So, no comment on that, let me leave it open,” Mokwena is quoted by Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena responds to Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro. Image Source:
“I think we played our best games when we played in Wydad, in Algeria against Belouizdad they were whistling and they tried to make it uncomfortable for us. In Al Ahly the flames and smoke and things they tried to make it difficult for us.”In addition, Mokwena is also banking on their fine run against Pirates whom they defeated a few weeks ago in the DStv Premiership.
“I’ve seen the team respond even at Orlando Stadium twice last season, this season they tried to make things difficult for us and I’ve seen this team respond so I don’t think that plays too much of a factor in terms of our approach to the game,” he added.Sundowns’ Mokwena responds to Riveiro’s remarks
