Having taken charge of the Ajax Amsterdam U18 team on an interim basis last month, former Bafana Bafana star Steven Pienaar has been overlooked for the permanent role. Read more here ➡️

Pienaar, who previously served as assistant manager to Dave Vos within Ajax's youth ranks, made his coaching debut with the team last month after Vos departed to become Giovanni van Bronkhorst's second-in-charge at Rangers.3-0 friendly win over domestic rivals AZ Alkmaar and subsequently assumed technical duties alongside Ajax II coach John Heitinga, John Bosman and goalkeeping coach Erik Heijblok.

"We are very happy that Jean-Paul wants to join us and that the important position at Ajax U18 has now been filled again," Saïd Ouaali, head of Ajax's youth academy told the club's website.
