Stellenbosch are set to announce the signings of two new players ahead of the close of the January transfer window.
The Western Cape-based club, as the Siya crew has been led to believe, have acquired the services of midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa from GladAfrica Championship club and South American Juan Carlos Ortiz, who has been in the country for about a week.During the DStv Compact Cup press conference at FNB Stadium on Thursday, Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker confirmed that they have welcomed two new players to the team but would not be drawn into revealing the names of the individuals.
“We’ve signed two players. We’ve signed a foreign player and one from Black Leopards. I will wait for the club to make an announcement,” Barker said to the media during the press conference. The Siya crew has been informed that Mthethwa is already in the Western Cape and is working with his new teammates ahead of the return of Premiership football in February.
