Mountain View in Pretoria is the suburb with the highest average fixed broadband speeds in South Africa, according to an analysis by market research and network intelligence firm
Most of the best-performing suburbs — including the top three — were predominantly middle-class areas. Users in this area who tested their fixed broadband speeds on MyBroadband’s Speed Test platform measured an average download speed of 106.4Mbps and upload speed of 102.1Mbps. It was the only suburb that had triple-digit average speeds.
However, there are also several high-speed mobile and wireless services on offer — including MTN 5G, Rain 5G, and Supersonic Air Fibre. This time around, users in Protea Heights recorded an average download speed of 94.06Mbps and uploads of 71.87Mbps. The area’s average latency was better than Mountain View’s, however, at around 10.07ms compared to 20.88ms.
