South Africa is one of half the Africa n countries without an estimated availability date for SpaceX’s fast and uncapped satellite Internet service, Starlink .
He added that people without access to affordable, fast Internet do not have the same access to education and other resources. South Africa is one of the countries without official access to Starlink, which hurts the local economy and forces many people in rural areas to resort to slow and expensive alternatives., the number of African countries that have launched or are expected to launch Starlink has dropped from 44 to 27 in the past six months.However, the latest Starlink coverage map now only shows 19 countries with expected launch dates.
While the cause of the decline is unknown, one possibility is that getting approval from African communication regulators is proving more difficult than anticipated.In Zimbabwe, the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe requested that Starlink block its service pending approval.Starlink’s launch date in Zimbabwe has also been pushed back from the second to the third quarter of 2024.
