In response to a tweet about why funerals can be problematic, Sizwe came up with his own rules to celebrate the dead.
“Normalise not eating at funerals. Also normalise having short funerals so people don’t even get hungry,” wrote Sizwe. Many users were confused at his comments, saying that Sizwe is disrespecting African customs. Here are some comments from the displeased tweeps: If you don't eat at Limpopo funerals it's considered an offence. And it doesn't end there, there is punishment, if there comes a funeral at your home, the entire village won't eat resulting at a loss.Cows won't eat themselves thought. Inkunzi ikhatshwa ngenkunzi then a sheep tomorrow for cleansing. Our funerals are ritualistic.

Absolutely. When I was growing up, you would only feed people that came from out of town. Now it's the whole area. The bus even drops the mourners at the house 🙈🙈

We first need to normalise funerals that don't take longer than 2 hours. You can't expect people to 4 hours at a funeral and not give them refreshments.

I support this 100%. A family faced with a bereavement has a lot on their plate. Feeding mourners shouldn't feature in that plate. Mourners should have their meals at their homes before leaving for the funeral, and do the same when they come back. This will save unnecessary debt.

I lost my grandpa 2 weeks ago he died on a Saturday we had the funeral the next Thursday. I can't explain how much money was spent before the funeral due visitors n family doing nothing but eat n drink to make it worse we must serve n attend them like we r not hurting grieving
Agreed!!! Mina if my mom dies before me, they will get NOTHING! THEY ARE NOT EVEN GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO COME AND SLEEP OVER FOR THE WEEK! SEE YOU ON THE DAY. From the graveyard EVERYONE must go eat at their house's!!!!
