Shosholoza Meyl passengers have complained of being stranded at the derelict Prince Albert Road station without explanation. TheCapeArgus

Cape Town - Shosholoza Meyl passengers have complained of being stranded at the derelict Prince Albert Road station without explanation. A Shosholoza Meyl - the long- distance passenger rail service of the Passenger Rail Agency of SA - train left Johannesburg on Sunday and was meant to arrive in Cape Town on Monday, but was stuck at Prince Albert Road on Monday night due to locomotive failure.

Chairperson of the United Commuters Voice Yvonne Dick said the group was shocked to learn of the “unbearable conditions” experienced aboard the train at Prince Albert Road. “The situation, according to a UCV member on board the train, was quite dire,” Dick said. The member of the group said the train’s toilets and showers had been locked, and no potable water was available.

TheCapeArgus Sad that after this 'not so nice experience' all what these passengers get is just apologies.

TheCapeArgus What's new? PRASA is used to providing a poor service and expecting people to pay for it! It's called ripping of the public because they know people are becoming worn out and don't know who to complain to anymore!

Africa's news leader.Buses have been dispatched to rescue hundreds of Shosholoza Meyl train passengers that have been stuck in Prince Albert, in the Western Cape for two days. We experienced the same thing just a month back. It's really irritating considering the fact that we didn't even get an apology from Prasa. We traveled for 40 hours, you can just imagine how tiring that was Every day the train are running late because of cable theft Their promise of a 'pleasant experience' is non existent. Unfriendly and unhelpful staff at Park Station, train leaving 2hrs late, several times the train stood still for hours. When the train reached Prince Albert, it was already a day behind schedule.
