According to police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut, the shooting took place at around 7pm when unknown gunmen opened fire at the occupants of a house on Molokwane Street in Imizamo Yethu and a vehicle which was parked outside the house.
‘Five men, aged between 20 and 45, did not survive the onslaught on their life while five other men were admitted to hospital with serious gunshot wounds,’ said Traut.The Hout Bay community policing forum said that two other people were killed in another shooting in the same area on Tuesday,According to police, Serious and Violent Crime Unit detectives were hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend the suspects amid reports of ongoing violence in the area.
Police could not confirm this but said additional officers had been deployed in Hout Bay to prevent further violence, the publication added. Meanwhile, another shooting incident that took place in Lansdowne on the same day left six people injured, two of them seriously, after two gunmen opened fire on the occupants of a minibus taxi in Lansdowne before fleeing on foot.The motive for the incident is under investigation with police saying it is unclear if the shooting was related to taxi violence.
