Seven killed in Gugulethu, cops follow several leads

While the motive for the shooting incident is yet to be determined, police said the identities and ages of the deceased will be released once their next of kin are informed.

“Police crime scene experts are still scouring the scene in NY 79, Gugulethu, where five people were shot dead by unidentified suspects, who later fled in a getaway vehicle. ’’Two other individuals were wounded in the shooting incident. They were rushed to a medical facility for treatment, where they later died,” said police spokesperson Novela Potelwa.

Acting provincial commissioner Thembisile Patekile says police teams were already pursuing several leads.Anyone with information that could assist the investigation can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
