South Africa Headlines News

The Daily News has learnt that Motshekga will be meeting teachers unions on Monday to iron out issues regarding the reopening of schools.

In a statement issued this morning, the department said Motshekga will only brief the media on Tuesday in Pretoria at 4pm.

Unions had anticipated that Mostheka would not be ready to announce the dates for the reopening of schools since there were still a number of issues that were not resolved in order to guarantee the safety of the pupils and teachers.According to the unions, only two provinces, the Western Cape and Gauteng had indicated that they were ready for reopening of schools and the rest of the provinces were not.

In a joint statement issued by the unions including the major unions such as Sadtu, Natu and Naptosa last week, the unions made it clear that they were not about to risk the lives of their members by allowing teachers to return to school when their facety was not guaranteed.

Yhoo can they just share where kida must study, send study materials so the kids can start focusing on what's important then they'll revise in prep for December exam

We don't need schools in (South) Africa. During LockDown we burned almost 1000 of this colonialists memorials and will finish the job in due course...

ANC Leadershit of a junk state.

No gameplan. ..fumbling!!

Sad that this country's leadership is so confused abt what there plans are. Keeping the public in limbo. DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE MESSING WITH THE CITIZENS HEADS. THEY ARE ACTUALLY GONA KILL PPL EMOTIONALLY N NOT TRU COVID

Again 🙆🏾‍♂️🙆🏾‍♂️🙆🏾‍♂️

She has awarded her brother with a multi million rand tener for masks. She is not really bothered about protecting schools, she instead wants to dump these important issues onto someone else while she collects her share from her brother and move on.

Yes they should bcoz educators in Khayelitsha have been waiting the whole day for safety equipment 🤷🤷🤷🤷

The minister is between a hungry lion and a deep sea. It seems there is no plan in place for schools to reopen yet. It will be a good idea to engage with the public on the way forward. Hence they say procrastination is the thief of time. Let’s wait and see

More of I don’t fucken know what I’m doing....

This is another hot potato

Just cancel the whole year and use the time to prepare schools and get them fully ready for next year.Things that unions are demanding are unrealistic to achieve short time

Leave schools closed

😂😂😂

Useless PresidencyZA CyrilRamaphosa

She’s still planning on how to address it.😂 she doesnt want a repeat of what happened last time.

It's a bloody farce. Typical of the MYANC ineptitude

This country cannot continue with this , hurry up and wait , attitude from this government

You will never “iron out issues” of the unions. Unions exist to have issues. Get on with it and announce the plan.

She has to act like she's working = minister

Ai Los it

Shame. I feel so sorry for my mother😘Eish. May God give her the wisdom to steer this ship into the right direction.

afrikan_swiss Minister Angie Motshekga doesn't want that heat directed at her by angry parents. She must just make the damn announcement. It's inevitable anyway. Cancel the whole school year or take chances! 🚸🤷🏿‍♂️

We've locked down ourselves and tied ourselves down with so many knots and tangles, that it is now becoming difficult to undo these knots.

Nollienottie 👀

Angie, allow only Grade 11 &12 to return back to school under strict health regulations, and the rest of the Students must do homeschooling, please.

Schools needs toilets and water running taps. Now.. in large numbers from Mpuma to Limpopo to NW to EC to deep KZN. And those school won't reopen untill those are done. Simple as that.

This useless cow...
