Stock photo.Huge consignments of illegal cigarettes, hookah pipe tobacco and scrap metal amounting to R40m were uncovered during two major operations by the SA Revenue Service customs division in Durban and Polokwane.
Sars said the busts were carried out in a joint operation with the police and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation . The consignment consisted of three containers which concealed 1,800 cases of RG cigarettes and 1,245 cases of foreign brands not registered for sale in SA.
