Johannesburg - Police Minister Bheki Cele says police have received more than 87 000 gender-based violence complaints during the first week of the 21-day national lockdown.
Cele said tge police had also arrested more than 2 200 people around the country for contravening the regulations. He said more than 700 of the arrests came from the Western Cape. “This is a very serious matter, the last number we received from the report of the NATJOINTS was 87 000 people have phoned reporting gender-based violence," he said.
AdvBMkhwebane This was made as if females are the victims in all this cases. Why can't they say explicitly say how many are male. Females have a tendency of abusing men knowing they can't act or react because they are protected by law.
No alcohol, no smokes, stuck together in 4 walls...dafuq were people expecting would happen?
..and how many arrest? 0...but for insulting this guy 4....four people arrested...that's the oath he took when he landed the job..its not about the people its about the power🤔
Isn't this a sign that the biggest virus we facing as society is our very own partners we keep within our households? Some we even protect by not exposing/reporting them to the relevant authorities...🤷🏾♂️🤦🏽♂️💔
AdvBMkhwebane I'll repeat, lock down wasn't a smart idea from day one. There is a temptation to do something dramatic & sensational in a time of crisis & this often results in poorly thought out actions that exacerbate the crisis. How do you process all this & still patrol 24hrs, not possible.
TheMercurySA Eish this is so heartbreaking 😭😩💔💔
PermPO with warrant issued in past Saps refused to honor on more than one occasion being sent back home “cant do anything” “A4 book gone” i had to get out myself can only imagine victims stuck by a law in a house fearful of their perpetrator with no escape add kids just sad 😶
AdvBMkhwebane Monsters
AdvBMkhwebane There is so much abuse in the country. Is it that we have done away with a solid family structure in our communities. If one has resources, the time & the love to care for those who do have parents, please do so. We cannot become an abusive nation (it is a curse)💔
Unbelievable
Taking phones to bathrooms will decrease these GBV complains
Oh no! Lord help!🙏🏾
I'll never take such stats seriously until they tell us about the number of men that are abused and killed by women.
People don't realize that they are better off alone than subjecting themselves to this form of violence
