The Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) in the Eastern Cape has welcomed the decision last week by Water Minister Senzo Mchunu to dissolve the Amatola Water Board.

Water Minister Senzo Mchunu speaks during a press briefing. It was dissolved after an investigation found the board members were unfit to hold office.

Unstable leadership, maladministration of funds, and delays in completing water-related projects are some of the reasons for the move.“We are very happy as the union and we see this as a victory as our workers have been vindicated because it was initiated by us that move even the strike action that was there we can say it was a provocation of the same board to our members.”Share article
