The dire state of water infrastructure in KwaZulu-Natal has paved the way for the emergence of what experts are terming"water tanker mafias", who are exacerbating the plight of communities already grappling with inadequate water. This was revealed by the chairperson of Parliament's Water and Sanitation Portfolio Committee, Robert Mashego, who said these criminal syndicates were deliberately sabotaging municipal water supply to boost their businesses.
