From Tuesday, flights to Accra, Lagos, Lusaka, Maputo, Windhoek, and Harare will resume.

The South African Airways as announced its intention to resume flights to six African destinations despite the ongoing strike. This is in addition to all its international flights which are fully operational.

Philip Saunders, SAA’s chief commercial officer, said: “We are pleased that SAA is now able to increase services and to offer our customers more flights on the African continent, and that all our international flights are back on schedule. It is also important to assure SAA’s customers that our operations are safe and that the airline will never compromise on this core responsibility.

The airline said it would rebook customers travelling to other regional routes if “possible”, as it continues to work with Mango and SA Airlink to rebook all domestic flights for Tuesday and Wednesday. “Once again, we apologise to all our passengers for all the inconvenience caused. We are continuing discussions with labour and remain committed to reach a prompt resolution in the best interests of all parties,” Saunders said.

Customers were advised to travel to their departure airport unless they were in possession of a rebooked ticket, while those seeking a refund or looking to rebook their future flights have until November 30 to do so.
