While the business rescue practitioners of the airline had set Sunday as the deadline to curtail operations if funding had not been raised, this deadline has been extended due to promises by the department of public enterprises that it remains intent on persuading the National Treasury to come up with the money.
In a statement on Sunday the department of public enterprises said that “after a meeting with the practitioners at the weekend, the department is engaging with the National Treasury to raise funds for the airline in line with the PCF undertaking.
South Africans must choose between saving SAA or ESKOM. We can't eat our cake and still have it. South Africans can still fly Mango, Kulula, British Airways, KLM, Turkish Airways etc. but there is only ONE Eskom. Government must do the RIGHT thing, not the POPULAR thing.
Any other company in business rescue would have just been closed down when “real” money dries up. Remember Highveld Steel? The whole SAA business rescue thing is just smoke and mirrors to buy more time.
You ain't got my pernission to do this... Shoot the dead horse if you have to, but I ain't paying for the bullet.
