SA probably needs 100 000 new affordable residential units a year just to keep up with annual population growth of nearly half a million, says property developer Calgro M3 .
CEO Wikus Lategan says this excludes the existing backlog of an estimated four million houses in SA, underlining the strong need for housing ranging in price from R400 000 to R1.5 million. Speaking to News24 on Monday, after the release of results for its year to end February, Lategan also said the available affordable housing coming on stream is"not even touching the backlog".
