Russell reveals familiar names are lining up for the Mercedes seat

George Russell has recently shared that Mercedes received several calls and messages from other drivers since a seat became available at the team in 2025.Hamilton had previously signed a contract extension to keep him with the team until the end of 2025, but he activated a release option which allowed him to make the move.Russell is confident about the future and believes he is ready for any driver in the Mercedes seat.

“It’s gonna be an interesting few months to see what happens. But from my side, I’ve been teammates with arguably the greatest driver of all time for the past two years, and I’ve got no concerns at all who lines up alongside me. I want to be tested against the very best and I feel that’s what I’ve had the last two years,” he was quoted on F1Russell was asked how much of a say he will have when it comes to the driver’s decision.

“I think for any team it’s important to have good harmony between the drivers because that trickles down to all of the engineers and the whole team, but ultimately the decision’s with Toto and the board.”In 2022, he was promoted to Mercedes and teamed up with Hamilton where he finished fourth in the driver’s standings.Formula One resumes in Australia next week for the third round.
