Rising Ebola Cases in Uganda Sparks Regional Concern Uganda

Since the first case of the current Ebola outbreak in Uganda was confirmed in mid-September 2022, the number of cases has topped 127 across seven districts, including 17 in the capital city Kampala. Most people living in the city fear another round of lockdowns, perhaps even more than they fear becoming infected.

The European Union has allocated U.S.$31 473,98 in humanitarian funding, to help Kenya take anticipatory action against the spread of Ebola following its outbreak in Uganda. The raising of the threat level by the WHO has neighbours on edge amid growing questions over lockdowns and the broader response.
