JOHANNESBURG - Residents of Alexandra have confirmed that they will take their shutdown protest to Sandton on Monday.
They say a resolution was taken at a public meeting at a local community centre earlier on Friday. They backed down from the same threat earlier in the week. They said they were angry over the lack of development in the area and claimed that foreign nationals were illegally constructing shacks. They also complained that they had been ignored by Mayor Herman Mashaba who they said was taking them for granted.
Community leaders said they had, on numerous occasions, asked the mayor to come and see the conditions they live in.On Thursday Mashaba challenged ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa to address the community of Alexandra along with him after the president called him out over the growing calls for the mayor to address residents.
I pass Alex twice a week it's a jungle world that area,I hope they do it and stop vandalizing the little they have in their area they must come here where we are living lavishly and forgotten about the ordinary masses out there slumbering in poverty day and night
People of Western Cape must emulate Alex people....... Right areas will be Bishop's Court, Table view, Seapoint, Camps Bay et al.
HermanMashaba khuluma nabantu and stop running away.
They will be shot at and arrested fast. Thats if they are not shot dead. Rich people own the police.
Then why is it still called Alex Shutdown

ALEX PROBLEM IS THE DA'S PROBLEM!!!!
While the March to Sandton, they must question why those bicycles lanes were prioritized over them by the ANC government that they will probably vote for again.
Good move by Alex residents
The poor are getting impatient more and more everyday
ANC is instigate the burning of a country they govern, black people should do the right thing come May or we deserve to suffer.
They should come with proof of payment for services consumed.
ANC instigated this for electioneering purpose, while Alex issue were real, they must take responsibility for whatever else happen in this March on Monday but as they have distance themselve from Qedani, they will do the same and scapegoat with Herman
Let them go,they will see what Anc government will do to them
Very strange cause Mayor's office is in Jozi
Expect concomitant action!
They should coz that's where he stay
where's money Mbeki has set it aside to rebuild Alexander?
Did Eskom not do this already?
Stupidity prevails !
Viva Alex movement I will support you guys
