REPORT | Al Ahly identify Percy Tau ex-teammate to replace Bafana Bafana star

Percy Tau's long-term future at Al Ahly has been thrown further into doubt after the Egyptian Premier League side reportedly reached an agreement to sign one of his former teammates as an attacking reinforcement., the Red Devils are closing in on a deal to sign Comoros international Faïz Selemani, who previously played alongside Tau in Belgium during their shared time at Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.

Selemani, who now represents Kortrijk, predominantly operates as a left winger but is also able to be deployed on the right flank, and would add to the competition Tau will face for a starting berth should he join the club. This is particularly the case given that Ahly is also said to be interested in signing Algeria star Sofiane Feghouli, a right winger as well, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The record 10-time African champions have already loaned out Luís Miquissone to Saudi side Abha and are said to be hoping to offload Tau as well to open up more spots for foreign recruitments. Orlando Pirates were previously linked with a move for his services but those rumours were quashed by Bucs coach Jose Riveiro on Thursday, while the Belgian transfer window closed three days ago, ending hopes of a return to Anderlecht.
