Ramaphosa urges SA to work towards rapid rebound in employment after 2.2m jobs lost | Starrrra

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa is calling on all citizens to work towards a rapid rebound in employment after 2.2 million jobs were lost nationwide in the second quarter of 2020.

Ramaphosa said that South Africa's success in responding to the crisis would be measured by the speed of its labour market recovery. In its quarterly labour survey report, Stats SA warned that this sharp fall in the unemployment rate was not a reflection of an improvement in the labour market but was rather an effect of the national lockdown, since the official definition of unemployment required that people look for work and were available for employment.

2.2m jobs lost in Q2 during lockdown -but overall employment improvesStats SA says 2.2 million jobs were lost in the second quarter of 2020 during the lockdown. I see contradiction here How stupid statistics is that? During lockdown, the employment economy was virtually at ground minus zero — non-operational and shedding jobs. This is tomfoolery at its worst! When jobless black people finally give up on looking for jobs, then employment rate improves, this is madness from Thuma mina clowns 😡😡😡😡

SA lost 2.2-million jobs in second quarter of 2020Despite the dramatic fall in the number of working people, SA’s unemployment rate fell to 23.3% in the second quarter of 2020 I might not be educated but this doesn't sound right. 2,2 million people lose their jobs, but instead of increasing, the unemployment decreases? Did these people get new jobs or maybe we'll count them next time, right now we act as if they are still working?
