Carol Paton | Ramaphosa 2024: To deliver, the president must fix a character flaw. But can he?

With another five-year term loading, it is important to ask: how did Ramaphosa get governing so wrong? More importantly, can he fix it the second time around? To do so, he will have to change, says Carol Paton.

After a full five-year term and a year, it is an understatement to say that President Cyril Ramaphosa has been a disappointment. The circumstances – the Covid-19 pandemic, floods and other natural disasters, and the hollowed-out state left by his predecessor – have been difficult. News24 has kept the country informed for 25 years, and we're about to enter a new chapter of fearless journalism.
