Pietermaritzburg - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has defended government's decision to continue with financial support to Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, despite reservations by some political parties.
Zikalala said despite tough economic conditions government remains committed to assisting the king and the royal household. The king attends to events such as the opening of the legislature, opening of the KZN House of Traditional Leaders and Reed Dance ceremony. The Inkatha Freedom Party welcomed the premier's allocation to the Zulu King and the royal household, saying this was an important institution that needs support. IFP Member of Provincial Legislature and leader of the official opposition Velenkosini Hlabisa said they believe that more money should be injected into the royal household and traditional structures to support it.
Is this guys the only king in this country?... What about other Kings?... Why is this government treats him like a spoilt brat?
So on top of the BILLIONS in bailouts of the failed SOEs, coming job losses, we still have to sustain this 'king's' life style? Same as with Zuma, who's still fighting corruption cases, and his 6 wives. Eish! Funny Democracy this.

South Africa is a land of contradictions....Zwelithini is outspoken against social Grant's,yet hes by far the biggest social Grant's recipient; The constitution guarantees equality, yet Zwelithini gets more money than all the other Kings combined!
