The PSL has officially charged Cape Town City for failure to obtain prior approval from the league before the club concluded a sponsorship deal with FNB. As a result, City has been summoned by the PSL to appear before its disciplinary committee next Monday

As a result, City has been summoned by the PSL to appear before its disciplinary committee next Monday.This was confirmed by PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu in his update on the league’s pending disciplinary matters.City stands charged for failure to obtain prior approval from the PSL executive committee in accordance with the compliance manual, prior to the conclusion of a new or an amended sponsorship agreement with a particular bank.

The PSL did not approve City’s title sponsor on the grounds that the deal conflicted with the league’s national cup competition sponsor, Nedbank.The league had initially attempted to block City from using their branded kit from the onset. Safa confirmed to City Press at the weekend that City have sought arbitration and the Association’s legal department was attending to the matter.
